Jim Meehan stands behind the bar at PDT in New York’s East Village intentional and meticulous, as he carefully, but with great zeal, begins to craft one of his celebrated cocktails. Cutting and squeezing plump lemons, he surveys the assortment of ingredients in front of him, methodically measuring each before pouring them into his tall stainless steel shaker. It is only upon finishing that he finally looks up, with a look of both pride and genuine excitement, as he waits as we take turns to enjoy our first sip. Perfect.

A long-time friend of Moore & Giles, Jim has been a go-to source of inspiration and influence in the development of our bags and accessories for the professional bartender. An author, correspondent, history buff and award-winning mixologist, he is also like-minded in his aesthetic and style, making him an excellent collaboration partner.
As we got to know Jim better through the collaboration process, we quickly came to realize why he understood the tenets of craftsmanship so well. Each drink he creates as a mixologist is prepared with top-quality ingredients and made with extra care – much like our own products.

Since we first met with Jim to draw up the initial designs for the bag at one of the dimly lit tables at the back of PDT, it has become one of our most popular bag and accessory offerings. His namesake, the Meehan Utility Bag, was built specifically for the needs of professional mixologists (and drink enthusiasts alike) and is perfectly paired with the Meehan Bar Roll-up to create a sweet suite of travel/work bags for bar men.
